CAREERS
Work somewhere the profit goes back to the customer
Summit employs about 1,400 people across 42 branches and two operations centers. Nobody here has a sales quota tied to a product a member does not need.
Why here
What is actually different about the job
Ownership structure is not a slogan. It shows up in what you are measured on.
No product sales quotas
Branch staff are not graded on accounts opened or cards sold. Performance reviews look at accuracy, member resolution, and whether a member came back. Incentive pay exists, and it is tied to team results rather than individual product counts.
Decisions stay close to the member
Branch managers and lenders have real authority to make exceptions on fees and loan terms without routing everything upward. That authority comes with training and with the expectation you will explain your reasoning.
Promotion from inside is the default
Roughly two thirds of branch managers started as tellers or member service representatives at Summit. Every posting runs internally for five business days before it goes public.
Pay and benefits
The specifics, not the brochure version
Pay ranges appear on every posting before you apply.
Retirement with a real match
Summit contributes 3% of salary whether or not you save anything, then matches half of the next 6% you put in. Vesting is complete after two years, and the plan is open to part-time staff after 1,000 hours.
Health coverage starting day one
Medical, dental, and vision begin on your first day of employment with no waiting period. Summit pays 82% of the premium for employee-only coverage and 70% for family coverage.
$5,250 a year for school
Tuition assistance covers degree programs, trade certifications, and lending or compliance credentials. There is no requirement that the coursework relate to your current role, only that you stay a year after reimbursement.
Time that is actually yours
Starting paid time off is 18 days plus 10 holidays, and 16 paid hours a year to volunteer. Parental leave is 12 weeks at full pay for any new parent, including adoption and foster placement.
Benefits described are summaries and are governed by the plan documents. Summit is an equal opportunity employer. This is a demonstration website; roles, pay practices, and figures shown are illustrative only.
Hiring process
Four steps, about three weeks
You will hear back either way. Nobody gets left in silence.
Apply with a short form
A resume and three questions. No cover letter, no personality quiz, no unpaid take-home project. Applications are read by a person within five business days.
Twenty-five minute phone screen
A recruiter walks through the role, the schedule, and the pay range up front so you can opt out early if it does not fit. You get to ask questions in the same call.
Meet the team
One interview with the hiring manager and one or two people you would work beside. Questions are shared in advance. Branch candidates spend 30 minutes on the floor watching how the day runs.
Offer, background check, start date
Offers state the salary, the schedule, and the benefit start date in writing. A credit and background check follows, and start dates are usually two to three weeks out.
Where people work
The kinds of roles we hire for
Branch work is the largest group by far, but it is not the only door in.
Member-facing roles include tellers, member service representatives, branch managers, and contact center specialists. Lending covers consumer underwriters, mortgage loan officers, processors, and business lenders. Behind those are accounting, risk and compliance, fraud investigation, technology and information security, marketing, and human resources. Most operations roles are hybrid with two days a week in an operations center; branch roles are on site by nature.
If you have never worked in financial services, branch and contact center roles are the usual starting point. Summit trains for the licensing and the systems. What it cannot train is patience with someone who is embarrassed about their balance.
