BUSINESS BANKING

Banking for the person who signs the checks

Summit works with owner-operators: the shop with four employees, the contractor running two trucks, the dentist buying her first building. Accounts, credit and card processing all sit with a team that works in the same county you do.

The lineup

Accounts, financing and services in one place

Six things most small businesses need. Start with what you need now and add the rest when the business is ready.

Business Checking

Three tiers, and the entry tier is free for most small businesses. Includes 250 monthly transactions, $5,000 in cash deposits and full access to online banking.

Business Savings

Tiered money market rates up to 3.35% APY on balances over $100,000. Set an automatic sweep so anything above your working balance moves overnight.

Business Loans

Term loans from 7.49% APR up to $500,000, and revolving working capital lines from 8.25% APR up to $250,000. Requests under $250,000 are decided by your branch team.

How lending works

Commercial Real Estate

Buy, build or refinance the building you operate from. Up to 80% loan to value on owner-occupied property, fixed for 5, 7 or 10 years.

Property financing

Equipment Financing

Fund the machine, the van or the oven and keep your cash where it is. Terms run 24 to 84 months, matched to how long the equipment will actually earn.

Merchant Services

Take cards in person and online at 2.25% plus 10 cents for card-present sales. Month to month, no cancellation fee, funds in your account the next business day.

Why local matters

Your file does not leave the county

Most business credit gets scored by a model in another state. At Summit, any request under $250,000 is written up and approved by the business team at your branch. They can pick up the phone and ask you why last February looked bad, instead of declining you over it.

Who we work with

Businesses with a name on the door

Summit is built for companies under about 50 employees. If your bookkeeping runs through one person and you know your customers by name, you are the right size.

Trades and contractors

Electricians, plumbers, framers, landscapers. Progress billing means money lands in lumps, so we build lines of credit around draw schedules and slow winters.

Restaurants and retail

Daily card volume, real cash deposits and thin margins. Business Plus checking handles $25,000 a month in currency, and merchant funding lands next business day.

Professional practices

Dentists, accountants, veterinarians, law firms. Practice acquisition, buildout and owner-occupied real estate, often in one closing with one set of documents.

Nonprofits and associations

Churches, youth leagues, volunteer fire companies, neighborhood groups. Multiple signers, board reporting and free checking with no minimum balance to hold.

Common questions

Does my business have to be a member to bank here?

Yes, and it is a short step. The business becomes a member with a $5 opening deposit in a share account, which makes it an owner of the credit union. Any owner with 20% or more of the company also needs to be eligible individually.

What do I bring to a first meeting?

Your formation paperwork, your EIN letter, a driver's license for each signer and last year's tax return. If you are asking about credit, add two years of business returns and a recent profit and loss statement.

I am a sole proprietor with no LLC. Can I still open a business account?

You can. Bring your Social Security number or EIN plus a fictitious name registration if you operate under a trade name. Plenty of our business members are one person with a truck and a phone.

How new can my business be?

Accounts are open to businesses of any age, including one that formed last week. For term loans and lines of credit we generally look for two years of filed returns, though we make exceptions when an owner has a long track record in the same trade.

Can I keep my personal accounts here too?

Most owners do, and it makes transfers between the two instant. Personal checking has no monthly fee, and high-yield savings currently pays 4.15% APY.
