Under the Federal Credit Union Act of 1934, credit unions were organized for the purpose of “promoting thrift among its members and creating a source of credit for provident or productive purposes.” The Financial Institution Name Here joins the efforts of thousands of other credit unions across the U.S. and the globe to serve the needs of our members and promote financial literacy within our community. Part of our mission is to raise consumer financial awareness and increase access to credit union services. Our regulatory agency, the NCUA, also participates in national financial literacy initiatives, including the Financial Literacy and Education Commission, an interagency group created by Congress to improve the nation’s financial literacy and education.
